ANCHOR POINT

We would love someone that is grounded in their Christian faith to join our education team. They would be there on Wednesday evenings, while classes are in session,from 3:30-5:15pm to talk with clients, pray for those in need, and to lead a devotion after class that ties in to the lesson.

We need individuals or small groups to purchase and gather items for our Operation Christmas Blessing bags. We have a list of items needed for baby to be, 1 year olds, and 2 year olds. Items are needed by Dec 12th.

A PEACEFUL PLACE

Resale Shop Volunteers: We are looking for volunteers to work in our downtown League City resale shop, located adjacent to League Park. Our shop is open Wed-Sat 11:00am – 3:00pm, with two shifts 11-1 and 1-3. At least two workers are scheduled for each shift.

Individuals to help on Client Care teams: Conducting interviews and building and continuing relationships with clients.

Decorating Team: People who like to decorate are welcome to join our decorating team.

Moving Team: Pick-up donations, or deliver furniture to clients. Must be able to lift heavy furniture, sometimes up/down three flights. Having a truck and/or trailer is a bonus.

Small Groups can help by:
-delivering furniture, etc. to a client
-packing and picking up large donations (trucks/trailers are helpful)
-sorting donations at our resale shop
-adopting a client family during the holidays. Gifts, food, etc.

These opportunities are on an as-needed basis. We will place your info on our email list and send out requests for help when needed.

 BAY AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Building: Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is building homes in LaPorte and Texas City! If you would like to help a homeowner build their home (they spend 300 hours helping other volunteers), please join us in building communities and showing God’s love with our hands and feet. No experience or special skill is required, and we will provide any tools needed.

Donations: The Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Restore needs your donations! The Restore accepts furniture, appliances, household goods, anything you want to donate! They will pick up donations as well. GALVESTON COUNTY FOOD BANK

The Galveston County Food Bank is in need of small groups and individuals to serve (sort items, deliver food, etc.) Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to noon. Specific projects will vary based on the Galveston County Food Bank’s organizational need at the time of inquiry.

That is 1 in 5 of our neighbors in Galveston County, compared to the national average of 1 in 6. The Galveston County Food Bank is seeking volunteers for the Santa Hustle 5k & Half Marathon that will be held on Galveston Island on December 17th and 18th. Service areas include assisting with pre-race packet pick up, race day packet pick up, water stations, candy stations, cookie stations, gear check, and station captain.

Through the 5k and Half Marathon, the Galveston County Food Bank is aiming to make an even larger impact on hunger and nutritional education in Galveston County.

GOOD NEIGHBORS

Good Neighbors is asking for individuals, families, small groups and ministry teams to adopt a family for Christmas. We will provide you with their children’s names, contacts, ages, clothing size and a special wish. You will coordinate meeting their needs/wishes and gift delivery. We schedule delivery to occur the third Saturday of December between 10:30 and noon, unless you make other arrangements with your adopted family. The Bridge Over Troubled Waters whose mission is to offer support, provide safety and prevent domestic and sexual violence. With a full service live in shelter for women and children there is ongoing need for meal service and opportunities for engagement with the families. If your small group is interested in providing a meal or hosting a family game night this is a wonderful opportunity to connect one on one with families and interact while showing the love of Jesus. Game nights are held Monday- Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm and providing meal service is based on calendar availability.

 WEST CAMPUS NAVAGATORS

OPPORTUNITY 1:  Dec 1st from 6-8pm They are having an English Language Learners meeting to help ELL parents navigate Skyward and all the electronic access.

They are looking for a small group or 2 to provide snacks and refreshments for this event.
The group could come set up and even serve if they would like!

OPPORTUNITY 2: There will be around 20-40 students at CSHS who met the criterion to be on the Springs Santa List. Its basically a list of 3 wants/needs and also gives their clothing and shoe size. This would be a great opportunity for CCCC to serve our community!

CLEANING AT THE SEABROOK FAMILY SERVICE CENTER

Anchor Point is in need of a team of volunteers (or a family) to do cleaning at the Seabrook Family Service Center after hours. We would love to have a good cleaning at least every other week. This is a great opportunity to pray over rooms and bless our clients with a warm, clean and welcoming environment. It takes approximately 2 hours to clean thoroughly.

BE THE LIGHT-ANTI HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Join us for Be The Light’s upcoming Anti-human Trafficking Holiday Gifting for Freedom event. Our goal is to provide 100 gift bags to share with the WINGS Program as well as for Project Girls street ministry. BTL will provide the gift bags but we need Small Groups or individuals to help us fill them up!!

Better yet attend the December 8th gift bag stuffing event and join us for some holiday music, cookies and friendship.

Join us as we provide a Gift towards FREEDOM for those at risk for trafficking. Help us show God’s love to these women who are sexually exploited or at risk for exploitation and human sex trafficking.

HALF MARATHON VOLUNTEERS

The Bridge is looking for volunteers on Sunday, November 20th, from 5:30am – 12:30pm at their half marathon run at Sylvan Beach. Volunteer needs include helping with set up, water stations, food prep, registration and more. The race allows them to continue to assist victims of sexual and domestic violence.
