BENCHMARK FAMILY SERVICES

Pool Party for Benchmark foster families! July 27, 5:00-8:00pm. We need 1 or 2 small groups to arrive at 5:00 to set up and decorate. Groups members will sign up to bring appetizers, drinks, and desserts. The church will provide the paper goods and pizza. Kids are welcome to attend and swim with the Benchmark kids. There is no lifeguard on duty but it is great for volunteer parents to swim too (maybe mom and dad trade off helping and swimming). During the event, volunteers will serve food, help keep watch over the pool, and play with the kids. The event ends at 7:30 and our small group volunteers will stay to finish clean up. Contact me and we will arrange the details!

GALVESTON COUNTY FOOD BANK

Galveston County Food Bank is in need of individuals who can deliver food boxes for their Homebound Program. This is a once a month commitment to pick up the food box(es) from the food bank, and deliver them to home(s) of those on your route. You can choose where you deliver and how many people are on your route. It’s a great way to bring needed food and some friendship to those in our area!

Galveston County Food Bank is in need of individuals or small groups who are able to help sort food at their Texas City location. Food donations must be checked for expiration dates and any damage. All usable food is then sorted by category to be sent to local partner agencies. Sorting hours are W-F 9am to Noon and 1pm to 4pm. Special hours (nights/Sat.) can be scheduled in advance. GALVESTON STREET MINISTRY

Galveston Street Ministry offers time of praise & worship, a brief message, and a call to accept Jesus along with a hot breakfast and medical care to needy people at the corner of 20th and Winnie. Everyone comes expecting food, prayer and an encouraging message from the Lord.

There are many serving opportunities available so everyone can find some way to minister to the 200 indigent served every Saturday morning. Serving can include walking with individuals in the food lines, passing out drinks to those waiting in line for food or medical services, or visiting and praying with the people who show up.

If a small group wants to provide food, clothes, or other items (bibles, sanitary items, etc.) they are free to do so. All that needs to happen is the group arrive no later than 7:45 AM with a table to place their items on, put up the table at an open space around the perimeter of the parking lot, and wait until AFTER the service to begin distributing. People will gather around the table as soon as you begin setting up to see what you all have, but it is imperative that nothing we do take away from each Saturday’s worship and message. Once the message is finished, distribution can begin.

Items to bring: bibles, small bags of snacks, bottles of water, men’s shaving kits, toothbrush kits, seasonal clothes/jackets, new or gently used clothes (including socks, new men’s & women’s underwear), hats, blankets, individual sized sunscreen, hand sanitizer, dog food, women’s hygiene products, shoes—this is not an exhaustive list so feel free to add on.
