BAY AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

OPPORTUNITY 1: Please join Bay Area Habitat for Humanity for the annual 5K Fun Run on July 13! Check in at 7 and get started at 8am at Walter Hall Park. Registration fee is only $10 and all adults, kids, dogs are welcome! There will be music, refreshments, give-aways and more. All funds will support Habitat’s mission of providing safe, stable homes and sharing God’s love in the community.

OPPORTUNITY 2: The Bay Area Habitat for Humanity Restore needs your donations! The Restore accepts furniture, appliances, household goods, anything you want to donate! They will pick up donations as well. BENCHMARK FAMILY SERVICES

Help CCCC host a pool party for Benchmark foster families on July 19, 6-8pm! Benchmark is reserving the Dickinson pool and CCCC Will be providing pizza and sodas. We will have a sign up for volunteers to bring waters, juices, snacks, and desserts. We will need volunteers to arrive at 5:30 to set up, help serve the food, and help clean up afterward.

CENTER FOR PREGNANCY

OPPORTUNITY 1: The Center for Pregnancy is looking for a small group that would be interested in helping us complete a painting project and help with some cleaning around the Center. We will provide all the supplies!

OPPORTUNITY 2: The Center for Pregnancy is looking for an individual or a small group that would be interested in helping us assemble small gift bags called “Mommy Bags.” We fill these bags with small gifts and words of encouragement, and we give them to every client that has a positive pregnancy test. It is our way of celebrating with them and planting seeds of hope for the future. We need help assembling true bags and/or helping with items to fill the bags. Thanks!

CLOTHED BY FAITH SE

Clothed By Faith SE is a ministry located in Deer Park which provides clothing to people in need in the community partnering with area non-profits and local school districts.

Volunteer opportunities to help sort clothing and make clothing bags for clients are available Mon-Thurs 9am-2pm.

On August 10th, there will be a big Back to School event to help students receive clothing for before school starts. Volunteers needed, more details to come for that event in August!

GALVESTION COUNTY FOOD BANK

Galveston County Food Bank is in need of individuals who can deliver food boxes for their Homebound Program. This is a once a month commitment to pick up the food box(es) from the food bank and deliver them to home(s) of those on your route. You can choose where you deliver and how many people are on your route. It’s a great way to bring needed food and some friendship to those in our area!

GOOD NEIGHBORS

Good Neighbors is in need of small groups to serve alongside us in the community at Rancho del Rey. Come be the hands and feet of Christ with us. First and third Saturdays from 10:30 to noon, we deliver groceries, clothing, household goods, breakfast, the Gospel and friendship to under resourced families right here in our back yard. We share coffee, juice, pastries, children’s ministry and prayer time with our neighbors who may be struggling outside the margin. HOUSTON WELCOMES REFUGEES

Houston Welcomes Refugees (HWR) strives to ease the resettlement process for refugees coming to Houston by mobilizing invested, caring volunteers. As followers of Jesus, we believe it is our job to love those who come to our city out of the overflow of love we receive from Christ. Our model is holistic and intended to empower rather than enable the families we serve. The best way we can serve HWR from CCCC is to donate Welcome Kits. These kits contain various household items that a new arriving family will need to set up a home. We are looking for groups interested in putting together kits from time-to-time. THE BIRTHDAY JOY PROGRAM

TBJP is in need of Birthday Fixins. They join in to collecting Birthday Fixins with CASA. So they are in need of small groups to take collections. The needs in donating cake mix, frosting, and icing/gel pens for these bags.

THE BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER

Can you help make a house a home?

The mission of The Bridge over Troubled Waters is to offer support, provide safety and prevent domestic and sexual violence. With a full service live in shelter for 100 women and children there is ongoing needs in a variety of ways for the shelter located in Pasadena.

One of the ways CCCC has supported the The Bridge is through helping furnish apartments when the clients move out from the shelter. We are so excited to share The Bridge has received a housing grant for 25 new apartments, starting in October 2019. So, we are looking for small groups to adopt approximately 10 single ladies and 15 families who will be moving into these new apartments. Most ladies come to the shelter with nothing, so they will need furniture, linens, kitchen items & decor to fill these blank apartments to help them feel like they have a home. We are asking that each group be responsible for collecting & storing items to furnish one whole apartment with the basic necessities & then moving them into the apartments, once they become available.

Let us know if your group/family/company can help us bless these women and children through adopting either a single woman or family apartment. On average the families include mom & three kids and if you choose to adopt a family with kids your group would know the age and sex of the children to provide for in late August/September.

If you aren’t capable of providing for a whole apartment and just have items to donate or if you want to help solely with manual labor of moving items please contact Jackie Amato at vbjack@hotmail.com so that we can coordinate your donations. Individual donation items won’t be available for coordination of drop off or pick up until September, so feel free to let us know you have something but just know we need your assistance storing until closer to move time. Additionally, items can be new or gently used and do not have to match or coordinate perfectly.

THE MERCY TREE

The Mercy Tree provides God’s word and a meal to the homeless people in the Clear Lake area. Individuals, families, or small groups can volunteer to provide a meal at one of the 5 local churches that provide space for The Mercy Tree.  Planning ahead is necessary because dates quickly fill up often months in advance. Open dates can be found on the website (www.themercytree.org) by clicking on the volunteer tab and scrolling through the calendar. When you click on the date, the time and location will appear.  Email volunteer@themercytree.org to sign up for the open date. At this time, the next open date is Tuesday, Aug. 20 or 27, and Wednesday, Aug. 21 .  Please cook or purchase a meal, and provide cold drinks for 20 individuals. Use disposable food containers and provide paper plates, napkins, and plastic ware.

TODAY’S HARBOR FOR CHILDREN

OPPORTUNITY 1:  We are currently preparing for our summer program at Today’s Harbor for Children and looking for volunteers to help plan and host activities for the children. Volunteers can be individuals, families, or small groups and are responsible for coming up with and hosting activities during their time slot.  You can even choose the age group and time frame that works best for you on an available date.  Examples of activities are cooking or painting class, arts & crafts projects, water activities, PE games, life skills presentations, etc. Contact Christine Shelton at the number below with any questions or to schedule an activity on these possible dates (depends on availability):  July 30, 31 or Aug 1, 2

OPPORTUNITY 2:  Our Host Family Program, or “Anchor” Program, is a critical part of a child’s life at Today’s Harbor for Children. Without them, the entire organization would suffer.

Host Families are volunteers who invite a child (or children) from Today’s Harbor for Children into their homes to become a part of their own family during Host Family visits.  These visits offer the children important bonding time and mentorship with their Host Family and a much-needed break for our House Parents who work around the clock to care for the children. These visits could include a range of activities, including sporting events, backyard barbecues or movies, even a weekend, a portion of the summer or a holiday with their host family. Spending time off-campus with a Host Family gives children at the Harbor the opportunity to experience the daily routine and activities of family life outside our community.

Going on family outings and excursions is a crucial part of childhood, but that kind of ordinary fun that many of us take for granted is extraordinary for some!  This is an opportunity to do more than just volunteer your time, it’s a way to make a huge impact in young people on their life journey.

4B DISASTER RESPONSE NETWORK

Hurricane Harvey was over a year ago but there are still families recovering from that devastating storm. The 4B Disaster Response Network continues to rebuild homes. Will you join our efforts to reach out in the community?

First Saturday Serve is the first Saturday of each month.  We meet at the 4B Warehouse at 144 Park Avenue (the League City Public Works building), for prayer and instructions and then go out on assignment.  There is a job for everyone – no construction experience is necessary just a willingness to help our community.  So that we can prepare the projects, we ask that you register before the last Thursday of the previous month.  To register go to www.4bresponse.org or for more information call Shari.

OPPORTUNITY 1: Our upcoming Cupcake War is in need of several different teams of volunteers. OPPORTUNITY 2: Pathway to Hope Camp- a therapeutic week-long camp for vulnerable children and their families designed to meet the needs of the entire family, from parents, (Biological & adopted) children, and their siblings. Families learn to better connect with one another, understand and meet physical needs, and regulate behavior in the context of loving relationship. Camp ‘Buddies’ and volunteers are needed. BAY AREA HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

OPPORTUNITY 1: Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is building homes in LaPorte, Texas City and now Galveston! If you would like to help a homeowner build their home (they spend 300 hours helping other volunteers), please join us in building communities and showing God’s love with our hands and feet. No experience or special skill is required, and we will provide any tools needed. We are also doing critical home repairs for victims of Hurricane Harvey, bring your small group and come serve with us!

BE THE LIGHT

OPPORTUNITY 1: Be the Light is joining “Love People Not Pixels” in a community effort to legally shut down the illicit SPA’s in our area. There are over 20 known illicit SPA’s that we pass by every day. Join our “Defender” program by attending our volunteer meeting on May 7th at 7:00 pm. We need our voices to be heard.

OPPORTUNITY 2: We need someone with website maintenance experience to help us with our website. We also need someone to run our social media efforts which bring a lot news and awareness about trafficking. We need leaders to take on some of our programs. GALVESTON URBAN MINISTRIES

OPPORTUNITY 1: Are you looking for a way to spend your summer that will help grow your compassion and professionalism? Are you looking for a way to spend your summer where you’re not only pouring out but also being poured into in a environment that’s also fun and fast paced? Then consider becoming a GUM Summer Intern!

As a GUM Intern not only will you learn practical and in-depth steps on how to alleviate poverty but you’ll also get to build real relationships, learn the ins and outs of working for a non-profit, and even learn project management skills!

Requirements:
– Applicants must be at least 19 years old or have finished their first year of college.
– Must have a passion for any of the following areas: construction, adult advocacy, family ministry, youth discipleship, kids ministry
– Must have a strong work ethic, can do attitude and a willingness to learn.

The internship will run May 31st-August 2nd.

THE CENTER FOR PREGNANCY

The Center for Pregnancy is hosting our annual Celebrate Moms event on Saturday, May 4th from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. This is a day where we celebrate and love on the women involved in our program, a very special event to be part of! We are looking for tables hostesses that would be willing to meet and welcome the moms during the event. We also need help with food, decor and gift bags.
