We are continuing to serve our Good Neighbors at Rancho del Rey and Town Village mobile home parks through “Ministry by Mail.” Each week that would be a serve week during non-pandemic times, we are writing a note of encouragement, prayer, and scripture, along with ten dollars towards their grocery needs, and mailing to families of the regular attenders of our Bible Study and Grocery Pick up. If you would like to participate in this effort by supporting one family (or more) from the neighborhood, please reach out and we will provide you with the name and address of a family to walk beside.

Opportunity 1: Senior Stockings is something we do for our seniors each year to lift their spirits. Each senior lets us know of a need and a want and we try to fill each and every request. Please let me know if you are interested in blessing a senior this Christmas.

Opportunity 2:  Thanksgiving Basket assembly and distribution. There are food drives in place already.

Assembly: Assemble baskets at Lighthouse on Monday and Tuesday, November 16 & 17 from 9am to 1pm.

Distribution: Wednesday & Thursday, November 18 & 19 from 9am to 1pm. This service is for families who do not have the means to pick up the baskets themselves.

Opportunity 1: “Adopt” a foster family that needs a little extra love and encouragement. Put together a family fun night basket and have a special meal delivered to help them focus on fun and connecting during a challenging time.

Opportunity 2: Can your group serve at our agency Christmas party? December 20, 5-7pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive early to set up. We will be decorating the party space and serving dinner for our foster families. We ask each volunteer to bring a tray of individual desserts to share such as cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc.

We will be putting together 2-3 person mentor groups around Galveston County to mentor both kids from Galveston County Probation Department and kids who are referred to us from Unbound (a ministry working with kids who have been trafficked). We would just like to put the word out and see if anyone is interested in volunteering as a mentor in our mentor groups. We will put groups together, get them through the application and background check process, train them together and then open them up for kids to be referred to their group.

Three years out from Harvey, we still send teams into the community Tuesday through Saturday to rebuild homes impacted by that hurricane.

We meet at the 4B Warehouse at 144 Park Avenue (the League City Public Works building) at 8 a.m. for prayer and instructions and then go out on assignment.  There is a job for everyone – no construction experience is necessary, just a willingness to help our community.   To register please go to our website.
