GALVESTON COUNTY FOOD BANK

Galveston County Food Bank has space for small groups to serve on July 30th or August 6th to sort product. If you have a small team, which can include parent/child teams, of 3-5 people they could clean and organize the food pantry on July 16th or July 23rd, between 9am-12pm. Good Neighbors is in need of small groups to serve along side us in the community at Rancho del Rey. Come be the hands and feet of Christ with us. First and third Saturdays from 10:30 to noon, we deliver groceries, clothing, household goods, breakfast, the Gospel and friendship to under resourced families right here in our back yard. LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Mobile Food Distributions are family friendly service opportunities that take place twice monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Spillway Park in San Leon and the 4th Saturday of the month at KE Little Elementary both begin at 9am and typically last 2 hours. Children and teens under 16 need to be supervised by an adult. Volunteers help with bagging food, passing it out, and helping deliver the food to people’s vehicles. Host a Meal

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters is in need of a small group to host a meal for our 100 bed shelter. Meals are served 7 days a week (Breakfast 6:30am weekday, weekend 7:30am, Lunch 11:30am, Dinner 5:00pm). We ask that the group provide a meal including a protein, fruit, and vegetable.

Landscape Project

The Bridge Over Troubled Waters is in need of a small group to provide landscape clean up to our shelter childcare playground. Dates and times can be scheduled to groups availability.

Bring your small group and serve on a Saturday 9am-12noon, sorting product for the food bank! You can assist us in serving our community by sorting dry and frozen product to be ordered by our agencies. Weekday and Saturday morning opportunities available.

If you wish to serve with just one or two others (age 14 and up), AND you love to clean and organize, well, we have a great opportunity for you to do just that in our Client Choice Food Mart. LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES

Kidz Dayz

Clear Creek Community Church is partnering with Lighthouse Christian Ministries to support their summer day camp serving underprivileged children who have completed 1st – 5th grade in Bacliff and the surrounding areas. The Kidz Dayz camp provides transportation, breakfast, lunch, enriched learning, and an opportunity to hear God’s Word in a fun environment for the entire month of July. Clear Creek Community Church will partner with LCM for the week of July 25th – July 29th from 8:30am-1:00pm, and will provide morning games, gospel-centered teaching, activities to reinforce the teaching, and will support LCM by building relationships with the campers and allowing God to love them through us. Specific opportunities including leading a large group of campers through fun games and activities, leading a ‘quiet’ corner for those campers who need some downtime, leading a small group of campers through provided discussion questions and activities, and assisting the leaders for both games and small groups. There are opportunities to serve both the entire week, or select days that work for you.

BE THE LIGHT (Human Trafficking)

Join Be The Light for a movie screening of “In Plain Site” on Monday, May 16th Room 202 Egret Bay Campus from 6pm to 9pm. Executive Produced and narrated by Natalie Grant, “In Plain Site: Stories of Hope and Freedom” features six modern-day abolitionist as they fight sex trafficking across America. Journeying to six US cities, the documentary opens the viewers eyes to what’s happening down the street “in plain site”.

We need at least one volunteer each day for this shift to assist our kitchen staff with prep, serving and clean up for lunch and dinner. The Bridge serves 100 clients 3 meals day with a residential shelter. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

The Center for Pregnancy will be hosting our annual “Celebrate Moms” event on May 21st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. This is our favorite event of the year, right after Mother’s Day we plan a day to love and pamper our clients. We need people that are interested in serving on the day of the event, some areas that we need help include: making food, decorating, pedicures, manicures, hair, makeup, massages, crafts, gift bags, and door prizes.

The Galveston County Food Bank needs volunteers for the Yagas Wild Game Cook-off in Galveston for May 13-15. There are a variety of categories and times you can choose from.  The Galveston County Food Bank needs volunteer leaders that can help manage major volunteer projects and are available during the weekday from 9a.m.- 4 p.m. on a regular basis – at least two days per week in our Texas City office. We also need large sort groups of volunteers that are able to sort product during the weekdays, in two hour shifts from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for spring at the Restore! We need volunteers to sort merchandise, stock shelves and help customers in the store. This is a great Go-Op for a small group. “Celebrate Moms” Event

The Center for Pregnancy is in need of small groups that would like to help us host our annual “Celebrate Moms” event. Every year around Mother’s Day, we a day of pampering and fun for our clients – to remind them that we love them and their babies! We need small groups that can set up a craft station, provide pedicures, set up food and decorations, and interact with the clients. Host a Lunch

The Center for Pregnancy is in need of small groups that would like to host a lunch at our facility. We will offer a free lunch to our clients and invite them to come for a time of fellowship and building relationships with people in the church.
